Blue Man Group

Blue Man Group is a creative organization founded by 3 men with a wonderful idea and a dream. It is an organization that produces theatrical shows and concerts featuring music, comedy and multimedia, recorded music and scores for film and television. Their entire appearances star a trio of performers called Blue Men, who appear to have blue skin and no hair or ears.

The Blue Man was created to be somewhat similar to a human being, more often than not as a satire to our human practices.

"The strongest and most obvious Blue Man characteristic is his static appearance namely, the ear-less, bright blue head and face, and nondescript, utilitarian clothing. In action, the Blue Man does not speak and his face is usually expressionless, although suggestions of curiosity, surprise, wonder, chagrin, etc are sometimes visible. the Blue Man does not communicate through speech or broad body language or gestures; rather, he communicates through intense eye contact and a simple gestures. he acts impulsively and primarily as a group of three," checking in"with the other two when making decisions and before moving to their next action."

This design creates a character that is free of stereotypes or race, breaking barriers of age, gender class group etc. these 'men' themselves carry as amazing message, which unfortunately, many of us either fail to realize, or refuse to apply in our lives. The entire work of the Blue Man Group takes everything we missed, may it be thinking outside the box, equality among others, protecting our 'home' and dealing with the core of problems rather than fixing the symptoms. It may not seem to be much, but simply dealing with one or two core issues, the world could be a much better place.

Check out their amazing work over the past decade - Maybe we could pick up something.

How He Loves Us

He is jealous for me
Love's like a hurricane, I am a tree
Bending beneath the weight of His wind and mercy
When all of a sudden, I am unaware of these afflictions eclipse by glory
and I realize just how beautiful You are and how great your affections are for me.
Oh, how He loves us so
Oh, how He loves us
How He loves us so.

Yeah, He loves us
Whoa, how He loves us
Whoa, how He loves us
Whoa, how He loves.

So we are His portion and He is our prize,
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes
If grace is an ocean we're all sinking
So heaven meets earth like a sloppy wet kiss and my heart turns violently inside of my chest
I don't have time to maintain these regrets when I think about the way

That he loves us,
Whoa, how He loves us
Whoa, how He loves us
Whoa, how He loves

This song was originally written by John Mark McMillan a youth leader from North California as a result of a tragic death of his best friend. The day after his best friend's death, he wrote this song.

The day of John's best friend, Steven's death, he was in a prayer meeting. Steven prayed that "If it would shake the youth, the youth of the nation, I would give my life. I would give my life today, if You shake the youth of the nation" Steven was a youth leader at that time, and John was destructed by the death of his best friend later that night in an car accident. For three years John sought out to fulfill his best friend's prayer. He became a youth leader and he wanted a movement to arise, he wanted a movement in the youth, he wanted lives to be changed. But 3 years went by, he worked with many wonderful people and many awesome things happened but the youth movement didn't happen. He was so lost and confused. He even felt like everybody had forgotten Steven, forgotten what sacrifice he did for his prayer.

Then the song came in, during a conference in Louisville, and boy did it come in! He had a feeling that God told him to sing this song in the stadium and He keeps telling and telling him to sing it. Since that day on, everywhere he went, everywhere he sang it, more lives were transformed. He got emails from people who were depressed and hurt telling him hat when they heard this song, their lives changed. It made him realize something: this song was not even a worship song to begin with, and yet so many people were touched by it. This song was the movement.

I first discovered this song from Youtube, it was a cover made by Kim Walker from Jesus Culture. It has very strong and interesting lyrics that not everyone can fully understand and appreciate. Therefore, this inspired me to take some of the lyrics of the song and explain what they mean to me.

In the first line of the first verse, it says "He is jealous for me". What does that mean? When I looked for the definition of the word jealous, it has two different meanings. The first meaning was "suspicious or fearful of being displaced by a rival."This is usually the kind of jealousy that we, as human beings, experience. The second meaning was "to be watchful and safeguarding." I see this as the kind of jealousy that God has for us.

One thing that we need to keep in mind is that God does feel and experience emotions. Because we were created in His image, we also feel and experience emotions too. God feels joy, He also experiences anger. The difference between God and us is that when God feels emotion, that emotion is righteous, it is without sin and cruel intentions. When we feel or experience emotions, especially negative ones, we have the tendency to sin because of that emotion. It is not the emotion itself that is sinful, it is how we respond to that emotion that determines whether it is right or wrong.

So here's how I would put into words what comes to my mind when I sing the words "He is jealous for me." His love is passionate and protective of me, He is forever watchful over me. He wants me only for Himself and He will not tolerate unfaithfulness on the part of His people. That is what I think of when I sing the first line of the song.

The next two lines of the song says that "His love is like hurricane, I am a tree. Bending beneath the weight of His wind and mercy. " What comes to my mind is that His love is so intense and powerful that it is like a strong hurricane. This causes me to yield before Him, it makes me want to love Him more and surrender all my life to Him.

Picture a tree that is being blown by a strong gust, that tree would have to bend with the wind; otherwise, it will eventually break off. So it is best to accept and bent to God's love than to resist it.

The next line in the song says "When all of a sudden, I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory." The word 'afflictions' here means " to cause distress and suffering."

Most of us know what an eclipse is. That is when the moon covers up the sun and the sun becomes overshadowed and dim. Another type of eclipse is when the earth's shadow covers the moon.

In this life, we all deal with distress. Things happen to us that causes us pain and suffering. Some of us have to deal with physical affliction, like sickness or disease. Others need to deal with emotional afflictions, such as broken relationships or departed loved ones. But all of these become dim and overshadowed when we think about how much God's love, glory and grace have for us.

The next part of the song says "Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes, if grace is an ocean we're all sinking." The word redemption here means the act of delivering from sin or saving from evil.

So when I sing this verse here's what comes into my mind. Because of God's abundant grace, which He has for us, He has delivered us from sins. And if God's grace can be measured like an ocean, we will surely be sinking into it because it is unending.

John 3:16
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal live."

The next line of the song "So Heaven meets earth like sloppy wet kiss", is the most controversial yet personal for many people. here is the comment straight from the writer himself:

“HEAVEN meets EARTH like a sloppy wet kiss”

The idea behind the lyric is that the kingdom of heaven and the kingdom of earth converge in a way that is both beautiful and awkwardly messy. Think about the birth of a child, or even the death of Jesus himself. These miracles are both incredibly beautiful and incredibly sloppy ("gory" may be more realistic, but “Heaven meets earth like a gory mess” didn’t seem to have the same ring). Why does the church have such a problem with things being sloppy? Do we really think we’re fooling anyone on Sunday morning, especially God? Are we going to offend him? I mean, he’s seen us naked in the shower all week and knows our worst thoughts, and still thinks we’re awesome. What if we took all the energy we spent faking and used that energy to enjoy the Lord instead? That could be revolutionary!

Another part of the song says that "I don't have time to maintain these regrets." We all have regrets, things that we are sorry for, things that we wish we could have done differently. But, we don't have time to focus on those regrets, they are in the past! God has forgiven us for those things. In the light of His love, those regrets become dim.

This song itself is so simple, yet it really digs into your heart and soul, and I still to this get teary eyed from it.What a wonderful thing it is to know that God loves us! His love changes us. Once we have encountered God's love, we will never be the same again.
