Ecclesiasticus: Betraying Secrets

Sirach 27:16 ~ 27:21

If you repeat secrets that have been told to you, you are destroying the confidence others have in you, and you will never have a close friend. Respect your friends, and keep faith with them. If you do betray a friend's confidence, you may as well forget you have a friend. You have killed that friendship just as sure as if you had taken a weapon and killed an enemy. Your friend is gone. You can no more get him back than you can get a bird to come back to your hand once you let it go. Don't bother going after him. It's too late. He is gone, like a deer escaped from a trap. Wounds can be bandaged and insults can be forgiven, but if you betray a confidence, it is hopeless.

What more needed to say? Trust and respect is a foundation for a good friendship. So don't destroy the faith that you friends have in you.

If you have the ability to be a good listener, you are blessed. But if you can listen and keep it from others except to pray to God, then you are even more blessed!

So next time when you hear a secret or being told a secret, let it die with you, if but you feel that you can't to yourself, tell it to God, because He is the greatest/burden bearer/ non bias -listener in the whole universe! Amen!

May God bless you all in this new year and new semester :)

Love,
Lionel
