Ok... im here to post hehehe.... For me - Honestly, I've decided to make it no meaning at all. Many if not all of us tend to delude ourselves with all sorts of imagery of Xmas, may it be the spirit, the gifts, santa, God, Jesus, songs, anything - but the fact is, more often than not, if not all of the times - These "meanings" are all superficial. Those who talk about Jesus birth repent at this time of the year, during Good Friday, and thanksgiving - But tomorrow.. ahh... they forget...

Every day is the same, the day before, and the day after. Its a continous passage of time, and I'm sure God wants us to fill every day with the most of what He wants us to do, whether or not its Xmas or not. If our days are filled up with God, then well, every day is the same after all!

Well, just a little something different other than the usual.. the birth of Jesus Christ and another variation of the sermon on the mount which we are all so familiar with. Nothing wrong with that, but these messages are so basic they should be in the core of our lives already - then there is not much point to present it again..

Well i agree with some of your opinions, Christmas is like a reminder, same goes to Good Friday, thanks giving and other Christian celebrations. To remind us that we are sinful being, that we are can be Jesus-like but not completely perfect. But not everyone treat it like that, just like you said, the "meanings" are superficial

But humans being are full of flaws. Although those message should have be in the core of our lives already, people still tend to forget things, and more often than not we will forget what God has done for us and be rejoice in it.
But then again isn't repenting only at this time of the year, better than not doing it at all?

I don't deny Christmas is overrated, especially when it comes the spending on decorations and stuff. Some may not know the true meaning of Christmas, the birth of Christ. But isn't it good enough that at lease people, Christians and non-Christians alike do know that Christmas is a day of giving and sharing?

Thats the probably why we I still do appreciate the time, though sometimes I'm not sure - We get so "stirred-up" in stuff that usually don't matter - thats what I'm worried about - Its something like the CNY boom - Literally go boom boom bom the cash away like water for apparently no reason at all - I'm sure the New Year is not a good reason to spend thousands. For what? Tradition or culture? Sounds more like like a celebration of greed - but well - theres still something from ti which could be appreciated hm...

Hmm that is quite true, the original reason why they go boom is a sign of prosperity, the more "boom" the more meriah it is, the more prosperty will come for that individual.

But nowadays' people do booming to show off how rich they are, because now fireworks are hard to get, if you want more "advance" fireworks, you even need special license.

I don't deny, it does sound like a celebration of greed, but such booming has been part of the of CNY's tradition, and the culture of Chinese around the world, since the first fireworks was being invented.

Guess those are the things that you just have to bear with it. for the sake of a "tradition" where the root has been ignored or forgotten...
